摘要:
Ribosome is the molecular machinery for protein synthesis, the key step for genetic information flow in the central dogma. Ribosome biogenesis is highly complicated, energy-consuming and strictly regulated at various levels, including the arginine methylation catalyzed by protein arginine methyltransferase (PRMT). We first reported the minor alternative pre-rRNA processing pathway in Arabidopsis and highlighted the indispensable function of AtPRMT3 in this progress. We further identified that ribosomal protein S2 (RPS2) is the bona-fide physical partner of AtPRMT3 in vivo, which may promote the subnuclear and subcellular shuttling of RPS2 to fine-tune ribosome biogenesis at the level of pre-rRNA processing.
