Dr. Laura Zahn attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and graduated in 1992 with a BA in Biology. Post graduation, Dr. Zahn worked in Dr. Thomas Stossel`s lab at Brigham and Women`s Hospital in Boston, MA on the Human Genome Project. She received her Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of Arizona, in Tucson in 2002, with a minor in genetics; performed under the supervision of Drs. Margaret Kidwell and David Mount. From 2002-2006 she did post-doctoral work on the Floral Genome Project at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania with Drs. Hong Ma and Claude dePamphilis, before joining the editorial staff at Science in 2006 as an associate editor of life sciences covering manuscripts in evolution, ecology, plant sciences, genomics and genetics.
